In this creeper we find the Warren’s, Ed & Lorraine, who are investigation a sacred glass. Locked away in that church, so she can’t do her mischief, is (you guessed it) Annabelle. One night when the Warren’s are out and their daughter is under the guidance of her knuckleheads babysitters, all hell breaks loose when one them can’t resist going into the ghost museum, poking around and, of course, unlock the case of that creepy Victorian devil doll.
Making his directorial debut, Gary Dauberman, is not a stranger to the franchise, as the writer of the first two Annabelle flicks. Dauberman is an expert in squeezing anticipatory sweat out of his audiences and in Annabelle Comes Home he continues to scare big time, I would even dare to say more than the first two flicks, yet somehow it is missing some heart to balance all the evil.
Name your fear trigger… Annabelle Comes Home most likely has it, but is it enough to make a successful horror movie? No doubt it is a well made genre flick yet it lacks the tongue-in-cheek moments we have been accustomed to in the current day popular horror genre. Nothing about Annabelle Comes Home suggests run see it for me, its a Thumbs Down from me.
