    The Globes 2013 Capital Markets Conference is bringing together some of the financial leaders in Israel from both the private and public sector to discuss Israel’s economic future.
    It seems although the finance minister came under fire for his budgetary cuts and tax increases, at least the audience, here at the conference, of around 500 finical leaders were won over by Lapid’s explanation of why he did what he had to do.

    Meretz MK Nitzan Horowitz has decided to throw the hit in ring and run for mayor of Tel-Aviv against incumbent three-term major Ron Huldai calling for a change in Israel’s most popular city. Horvitz’s announcement for his run for mayor of Tel-Aviv already made waves way beyond the boarders of Israel as the world media has already heralded the campaign as “the pilot vs. the gay guy”.

    Members of the Knesset’s Health and Welfare Committee were shocked into silence when an 83-year-old Holocaust survivor who lost patience with the proceedings blasted the government for wasting time on endless debates, while abandoning survivors to die in poverty. That woman is Tivon resident Dora Roth, who has become a national hero since her outburst at the Knesset. i got to sit down at her at her house to talk about what made her so angry.
    All we can hope now is that Dora Roth’s remarks fell on fertile ears and she really made a difference for those remaining frail holocaust survivors to whom she served as a mouthpiece.

    Over a hundred graduates of the international Public Health Masters program have returned for the first to Israel to discuss current tendencies in their sector and meet fellow graduates of the program which has been running for over forty years.
    And of course one of the side affect of living and studying in Israel for a year is that when those students return to their countries of origin they become unofficial ambassadors of Israel and advocates of the Jewish state.
